Our
Intermediate and Advanced Classes are for those dogs that have
attended our Puppy or Junior Classes or who have the appropriate
level of training to join the class. It is designed to
further the training
that has been learnt. We run 2 follow on
classes - an Intermediate class and an Advanced
class.
INTERMEDIATE CLASS
This class is for
dogs over 4 months of age that have completed our Puppy class
or Junior class (or have been assessed as being up to the standard
required to join this class). It is for owners who wish to
continue to train their dogs with more distractions. During
the Intermediate class we will:
- Continue to build on the training
learnt during the previous classes and add further
distractions;
- Teach dogs to come back when
called when on a long lead and then off lead;
- Teach well mannered socialising
techniques on and off lead;
- Take dogs for a street walk
and put them in "real life" distracting situations;
- Teach dogs to lie quietly beside you when needed
- Introduce toys, play and life rewards
as rewards and decrease the use of food reward
- Introduce Agility equipment
such as the A-frame, weaving poles, jumps, tyre jump, pause table and tunnels
ADVANCED CLASS
This class is for dogs that
have attended the Intermediate class and is for owners
who wish to continue to train their dogs to a high standard
of Obedience. During the Intermediate class we will:
- Introduce precision heeling
work and teach dogs to walk next to their owners with
full attention on their owners
- Introduce Obedience exercises
such as long recalls; sit and down stays at a distance;
and retrieving articles
- Introduce more advanced
agility equipment such as the see-saw, dog walk, and
collapsible tunnel.
- Start some agility course
work for those that wish to compete in agility trials.

Our Intermediate
and Advanced Classes run for 6 weeks and are approximately
1 - hour long (Our intermediate course is a 6 week course with
a 30 minute lecture with no dogs a few days before the
6 week course commences). Bookings are
essential as no more
than 6 dogs are taken for a
class.
